Dream of a 3-D Interactive Skymap...

The last bits of a dream I had Sunday Morning (I was at my mother house).

I was exploring around in a Library on computer a new kind of interactive Skymap. (They make those on Computer, where you can explore places in the heavens sometimes graphically on Computer, programs like, Celestia, Red Shift, or Stellarium.

I found a program and tried it on my Computer, after not getting exactly what I was looking for at first, I was able to find it. It was something I didn't expect.

There was a 3-Dimensional index of our Solar System. Using the index, instead of using the index to travel to places like "Pluto", I went to the "Sun". The graphic program showed it in a super-dimensional 3D with all these other colors that I can't even imagine seeing connected with "Sol", particularly a Blueish sort of nebulae. Enhanced like in a Hubble (Astronomical telescope) Picture.



There where other destinations, that where on paper....I knew I wanted to travel to the farest reaches of space, using that program. The Only thing close to the kind of graphic effect I saw is on "Google" their "Skymap"...a great site by the way.

Where did the idea of this dream come from? Well a couple of days ago I saw a television episode of the "Simpson's, Where Bart and Homer end up on a rocket ship with a bunch of celebrities, and fly into the Sun...headed for destruction. Maybe part of the idea around this dream came from that.

But then I also remembered seeing a seeing the return of "2001 Space Odyssey" on a Cable station. Thought I didn't actually see the movie, again. I wished they'd show "2010, The Year We Make Contact".

I'd talk before on a blog that maybe Humankind on Earth might meet up with the "Gods of Arthur C. Clarke". The type of intelligence clarke desribes in the Movie 2001, and 2010 is god like. This intelligence isn't "God", but Alien perhaps, the progenitor of Human kind Maybe We might really get a message from them telling us to straighten up or else!

Or I remember a good example of what the visual quality in that interactive 3-D. was like. Have you ever seen that music video "Get on your Boots", bu U2, or check out the opening credits in the movie "A Quantun of Solitude". It was alot like that , in fact I probably saw that movie before I had this dream.
