Goodbye Strephon K. Williams.....
Unknown and somewhat obscure Dream researcher, therapist,Strephon K.Williams, died just a few days ago on Oct 22,2009 in The Netherlands. Strephon was one of the influences of my quest into "Dreamwork", and is one of the influences of me starting this Blog.
I met Strephon when he was starting his Jungian-Senoi Dreamwork institute in Berkeley, California, and got chance to volunteer to help out in the Institute, attended a class, and participated in some of his dream groups at his home in Berkeley. This was back in the 80's before the Internet!
Strephon seemed to be bit of a strange bird, my impression of Strephon was that of a man who seemed ungrounded. You got the impression he was some where on Mars, rather than talking right in front of you. But his writings were pretty down to Earth when it comes to dealing with Dream Work, and it seems to me he did some ground-breaking work taking dream-work out of obscurity and using them in a therapeutic/professional context. He wrote a guide book on working with dream in a therapeutic/professional context (The Jungian-Senoi Dreamwork manual). He moved away from the fortune-telling-superstitious aspects of dreams, and dream work. I figured to guy to be a sort of wizard/genius, though I didn't know Strephon that well.
Strephon moved out of the United States By 1990 I think, and into The Netherlands, where he died Oct 22, 2009, I think he was 72 years old. No one lives forever, but it seems quite a wake up call here, about life on Earth. Strephon had some marriages here in the U.S and has some daughters here.
Strephon was fond of this writing....
